NAHARLAGUN, Aug 2: London-based Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence (SCCE) founder, Ragasudha Vinjamuri, visited the Oju Welfare Association (OWA) here on Friday, and expressed great admiration for the association’s activities.
“I am touched by the humanitarian services given to empower the poor, the unprivileged and the downtrodden sections of the society, including children and women, through education by the OWA,” Vinjamuri said, and announced to extend all possible assistance to the OWA to continue its noble mission.
She also advised the students under the association to study sincerely to reach great heights in life.
OWA chairperson Anya Ratan highlighted the activities of the association, such as schooling, crafts training and bead making, for victims of social oppression and suppression, sexually exploited victims, and rescued child labourers.
“OWA founder late Biny Yanga Maya was of the firm belief that quality education in a secured environment could help them forget their traumatized past and begin a new life. That is why the inmates are involved in various activities under expert care,” Ratan said.
OWA inmates and women presented a cultural programme showcasing the rich cultures of Arunachal’s tribes.
