ROING, Aug 7: The 5th Summer Badminton Tournament 2019 came to a conclusion here at the Ita Pulu Indoor Stadium in Lower Dibang Valley on Monday last. More than 100 teams from Lower Dibang Valley, Dibang Valley, Lohit and Namsai districts participated in the tournament.
The three days long event had a number of categories viz. U-13 boys single, U-17 boys single, U-17 boys double, Men’s open single, Men’s open Double, 35+ Men’s Double, 40+ Men’s Double and women’s open single.
Lanji Mimi won the title in the U-13 boy’s single, while Jeelo Linggi was the runners up.
Gulab Chetia(Namsai) won the U-17 boy’s single title after defeating Wunji Michichi.
In the U-17 boys double, partners Gulab chetia & Sourav Sonnwal were the winners, while Hamin & Uku Linggi were the runners up.
Jerry Keche won the women’s open single title with Nami Mihu finishing runners up.
Men’s open single title was won by Welso Kri (Tezu) and Aho Miku was the runners up. The Men’s open double was won by Aho Miku & Wugo Molo, while Saji Baby & Open Melo finished second.
In the 35+ men’s double, partners Manna Hazarika & T Nyodu won the title after defeating Open Melo and Arjun Mega.
The 40+ men’s double was won by T Nyodu & S Chetry, while the runners up were Raju Pulu & Apomo Linggi.
The District Sports Officer Raju Mipi and AIMSU President Mapu Mihu attended the closing programme. The tournament was organized by the Ita Pulu Badminton Club.
