NAMPONG, Aug 16: Local MLA Laisam Simai inaugurated the first model village, Longman, in his constituency here in Changlang district, under the CM’s Adharsh Gram Yojana (CMAGY), on Friday.
He also inaugurated the newly constructed heath centre in the village.
“The state government has a clear vision for all-round development of the state, and there is a drastic change in the working system of the present government,” Simai told the people after the inauguration.
Informing about upcoming projects and those in the pipeline, the MLA expressed hope that “a day will come when all the villages in the constituency become self-reliant.”
He said priority would be given to make livelihood projects successful.
Simai also said “geotagging of assets created and awarding of works through tender system are compulsory under the present government for maintaining transparency.”
Speaking on the unemployment problem in his constituency, he said, “All the exams for jobs will be conducted by the SSB, and there will be no favouritism in the recruitment process under the present government.”
The MLA asked the villagers and the executing agencies to implement projects as per the guidelines, and urged the people to take up agricultural and allied activities professionally, saying that “there is huge scope in agriculture and horticulture sectors for socioeconomic development.”
He said the government is committed to double the income of the farmers by providing assistance in their chosen sectors.
Speaking on Longman’s selection as the first model village in his constituency, Simai said “the village should be a model village in the real sense.”
Earlier, Changlang DC RK Sharma spoke on the various components of the CMAGY, and urged the farmers to avail the benefits of various government schemes. He also urged the district’s youths not to indulge in drug abuse and trafficking, and to keep the district clean and plastic-free.
Jairampur ADC SS Choudhury advised the villagers to utilize the infrastructure developed under the CMAGY properly. He also called for installing dustbins at important locations, under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
The Nampong BDO informed that the first-phase work on the model village under the CMAGY has been completed and the second-phase work is in progress. (DIPRO)
