SEIJOSA, Aug 20: The range forest office here in Pakke-Kessang district on Monday organised an avenue plantation programme under the ‘Clean-Green Arunachal Campaign-2019’.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu had launched the campaign last month.
Every head of department planted a sapling to flag off the programme, which also saw the participation of the HGB, former student leaders, and forest department officials.
Bhalukpong (West Kameng)-based Khellong Forest Division’s DFO, VK Jawal, highlighted the role played by trees in reducing global warming and maintaining the ecosystem.
The plantation programme was also aimed at beautifying the area where the annual Pakke Paga Festival is held, besides sensitizing the people to the need to conserve forests.
Seijosa RFO Nabam Takam urged the HoDs of the circle to spread the message of “clean-green Arunachal” in order to make the campaign a success.
Seijosa GHSS Principal AK Mishra, HGB Takam Nabum, MO Dr Topu Tok, ADO Subi Taba, PHE JE Nabam Naku, and former student leader Vikram Tayam also spoke about the importance of planting trees, in view of the deforestation activities involved in the process of urbanization.
