TAWANG, Aug 20: Trained martial arts experts are imparting self-defence training to the girl students of the government schools in Tawang district.
The training classes, which started a couple of days ago, will be conducted in phases. The students of the government secondary school in Seru and the upper primary school in Kakaling have already been trained in basic martial arts skills.
The training classes for four other government schools started on Monday.
DC Sang Phuntsok on Tuesday visited the training class at the government town secondary school, and stressed the importance of learning martial arts, especially in view of the growing crimes against women.
“Practicing martial arts not only keeps you physically fit but also enhances the power of concentration, inculcates discipline, and builds more confidence,” the DC said.
