DUMPORIJO, Sep 1: As many as 150 students participated in essay and painting competitions organised by the Upper Subansiri KVK at Dium Bui Residential School here on Friday, under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan.
Addressing the programme, the Dumporijo ADC spoke on the importance of water conservation, while the Baririjo BDO described students as “carriers of knowledge who can spread the knowledge of water conservation to their families, villages and society.”
The BDO also spoke about the ill-effects of deforestation on the ecology.
The district’s KVK head dwelt on efficient use of water at home and in farms, and the role of water in human, animal and plant life. He also called for “taking steps to conserve rainwater and improve groundwater level through various techniques.”
Three students each from among those who participated in the drawing and the essay competitions will be awarded on 3 September, during the KVK Mela.
The COs of Giteripa and Gusar also attended the programme.
