DAPORIJO, Sep 2: Tama Ripa village in Maro circle of Upper Subansiri district has been adopted by Dumporijo MLA Rode Bui under the Chief Minister’s Adarsh Gram Yojana (CMAGY).
Located 85 kms from district headquarters Daporijo, Tama Ripa is the last village of Maro circle. It was selected for adoption in the first phase by the villagers through the gram sabha.
Addressing the villagers on Sunday, Bui advised them to “not view everything from a political angle,” saying he would be more happy if he was considered “a leader for development.”
Assuring that he would prioritize the villagers’ suggestions, the MLA advised them to accord priority to road connectivity, access to drinking water, basic healthcare, and educational facilities.
Dumporijo ADC Mobai Tai said “the onus is now on the villagers to make their village a really model one,” and added that development would not be possible without their cooperation.
Baririjo BDO Margo Hai said the model village “should never be only on paper and development must come through asset creation in sectors like education, health, road communication, basic occupation, livelihood, power, and water supply.”
He also appealed to the villagers to stop indiscriminate hunting of wildlife, deforestation activities, and jhum cultivation, and advised them to protect the water catchment areas, and to plant trees.
Development Committee of Maro Circle (DCMC) chairman Rekom Maro and former Sigi Gusar ZPM Jumli Dugi also spoke.
Among others, the GBs of Tasidoni, Lipu and Tama Ripa villages, former panchayat leaders of the area, members of the DCMC, and government officials were present on the occasion.
