RONO HILLS, Sep 5: Thirty youth volunteers along with the Nehru Yuva Kendra’s (NYK) district youth coordinators of West Kameng, Bomdila and Papum Pare participated in a three-day ‘training of trainers’ programme organised by the NYK’s state unit at Rajiv Gandhi University’s (RGU) distance education institute here.
The programme, which concluded on Thursday, was organised in collaboration with the RGU’s physical education cell, and was aimed at developing the core competence of the volunteers to engage themselves in community development and sensitizing the participants to the “problems and prospects of youth development for peaceful world order and progressive development of the nation,” according to a release from the NYK.
The participants were trained on various topics relevant to the youths of the state and the nation, with resource persons delivering lectures and conducting group discussions on life-skill development, resource mobilization, the problem of HIV/AIDS, communal harmony, disaster management, etc.
The volunteers were also apprised of the process of forming youth clubs and conducting various programmes under the NYK’s aegis.
Among others, the inaugural function was attended by RGU Registrar Prof Tomo Riba, RGU Physical Education Department Head Dr Anil Mili, and NYK Arunachal Chapter Director Kh Ibohanbi Singh.
