VK members call on governor

ITANAGAR, Sep 19: Members of the Vivekananda Kendra (VK), led by its state prant sanchalak Dr Joram Begi and prant pramukh Dr Tejum Padu called on Governor BD Mishra at the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday, on the occasion of the 50th year of the dedication of the mid-sea Vivekanada Rock memorial in Kanyakumari to the nation.
The members met the governor as part of a nationwide contact programme, ‘Vivekanada shila smarak – Ek Bharat, vijayi Bharat’, which was launched on 2 September.
The governor urged the VK to “spread Swami Vivekananda’s message of national integration and unity to each and every school to motivate the younger generation to inculcate Swami Vivekananda’s values of life.”
Congratulating the VK on 50 years of the rock memorial, Mishra called for “continuing the relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings in the present day scenario” and stressed on making concerted efforts to strengthen the education system of the state through the VKVs. (Raj Bhavan)
