The annual Hindu festival, Durga Puja, was celebrated across the state with lights illuminating towns and devotees offering prayers and partaking in religious rituals. Like every year, the pandals this year too saw grand displays of artwork. While Ravana’s effigies are burnt in the northern part of the country as part of Dussehra, in the eastern part, Durga Puja celebrates the victory of the goddess Durga over the demon king, Mahishasura.
