Why is that so?

I chased my mind as I recall,
Are we really fine?
Our life has always been consumed
By the norms made by society.
We deny ourselves simple pleasures of existence
Because that delights the life of others.
Limited belongings allow
Us to do on our own
For since we have stepped on this land,
We were forced to say ‘okay’
And let things go
Without a care
Were the things going right or wrong?
A brief awkward silence always ensues
Whenever I ask myself-
Am I caring too hard to do any work
Keeping in mind the desires of others
And not thinking about my own?
It’s the only way to live in society, isn’t it?
My inner voice replied.
