NAHARLGUN, Apr 1: Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Talo Potom on Wednesday warned that legal action will be taken against consumers who are hoarding LPG cylinders in excess of the allotted numbers.
Potom said he has received complaints that due to overstocking of LPG cylinders by some individuals, those who are in dire need are not receiving cooking gas.
The ADM’s announcement came after reports surfaced that residents were unnecessarily hoarding LPG cylinders, causing problems for the gas agencies in maintaining stock and providing cylinders to the genuinely needy consumers.
Stating that the administration is taking all necessary steps to ensure smooth supply of LPG cylinders, Potom said the delivery of cylinders is being monitored by the DC, with support from the control room, to ensure that every consumer gets essential cooking gas.
Requesting people not to panic over LPG stocks, the ADM informed that the retail outlets and storage facilities of LPG in the capital complex are receiving normal supplies and “there is absolutely no shortage of cooking gas and no interruption in its supply.”
