A waste of time

The whole country was waiting to hear after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on social media that he was going to share a video with the country on Friday. Issues like rising cases of Covid-19 positive, concern over lack of equipment for medical workers, the poor economic scenario and controversy over the Tabligi Jamaat event at Nizamuddin, which has given a communal colour to the pandemic, have been worrying the people, and the country was looking forward to hear him. In his speech, Modi made an appeal to the nation to hold candles, lamps and mobile flashlights on Sunday in a show of solidarity amid the coronavirus crisis.
He did not utter a single word about the issues concerning the nation. His short speech was very disappointing and has left people confused. It is perfectly fine to light candles to express solidarity at a time when the country is going through a difficult time. But people were waiting to hear about some of the pressing issues concerning the country. There is no clarity on what will be approach post 14 April, when the nationwide lockdown period ends. The uncertainty is giving heartache to every Indian. When the PM announced the nationwide lockdown, he just gave four hours to the people to prepare and it badly affected everyone. The mistake should not be repeated. Instead of taking the country towards the right direction, the PM is wasting time on petty issues.
