After almost a month, lockdown has been lifted from the Itanagar capital region (ICR). The lockdown had been imposed after the number of coronavirus cases jumped in the ICR. Naharlagun town has been hit the hardest, with maximum number of cases being reported from there. The health department conducted around 40,000 tests in the ICR to detect Covid-19 patients. Rapid antigen tests were conducted by 20 different teams in various parts of the ICR. The health department has claimed that it has managed to break the chain of infection.
Now that the lockdown has been lifted, the real battle will start. The role of the citizens will become very important. Most of the Covid-19 infection in the state took place because of the carelessness of the citizens. Failure of the citizens to maintain the social distancing norms and to wear masks has been cited as the main reason for the spread of Covid-19 in the state. The lockdown is not the solution to fight the coronavirus. It is only a temporary measure to stop further spread of the virus and to give enough time to the health department to conduct tests and prepare itself for the bigger battle. Therefore the citizens will have to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOP). This is one of the main weapons to keep the state free from the novel coronavirus. It’s time for every citizen to play their part and be a corona warrior in the true sense.
