SENUA, 15 Mar: Health Minister Alo Libang inaugurated a NERCORMP-supported multipurpose common facility centre (MCFC) in Senua village in Longding district on Monday, in the presence of Longding-Pumao MLA Tanpho Wangnaw, DC Bani Lego and others.
The MCFC has been implemented by the NERCORMP through the NaRMGs of Senua village with funding from the North Eastern Council (NEC).
“The project also had the convergence of various schemes, such as untied fund of district administration and MLALAD fund,” NERCORMP Project Director Ruzing Bellai informed in a release.
Bellai informed that “it is one of the best examples of convergence and judicious use of fund with community participation,” adding that the CFC was completed with a total fund of Rs 50,42,691.
The DC commended the “developmental efforts of NERCORMP” and assured to provide additional funding for further improving the MCFC. He requested the NERCORMP officials to seek further financial assistance from the NEC to augment the developmental initiatives in the district.
The project director informed the communities about the ongoing processing and allied activities undertaken by the project, and requested them to be part of farmers-producers organizations which are being promoted by the project for processing and allied units.
Bellai also suggested to the policymakers of the state to “include millet varieties as the nutri cereal component under the public distribution system to ensure food security and preserve the indigenous food system.”
The minister assured to look into the two-point memorandum submitted by the village committee of Senua village.
