Triage centre starts functioning

ITANAGAR, 16 May: The triage centre for Covid-19 has started functioning at Hotel Donyi Polo Ashok here.

The centre, run by the health department, will determine whether a Covid patient should be admitted to a hospital or a Covid care centre (CCC).

Informing this, ICR DMO Dr Mandip Perme said that people can come and get tested at the triage centre if they exhibit any kind of Covid-19 symptoms.

“Blood tests and X-ray are done at the centre. Based on the report, the doctors will decide whether a patient will be sent to a hospital, a CCC or home isolation. Severe cases will be referred to the DCH in Chimpu,” informed Dr Perme.

He also said that vaccination of people between 18 and 44 years of age will start on Monday.

“Per day, 300 people will get vaccines in the ICR under this category. As we are in a containment zone and cases are on the rise, the number of people who can take vaccines have been kept low to avoid crowding,” he added.

Dr Perme urged the people to strictly stay at home and follow the containment order.

“Containment zone has been declared to break the chain. People should not go out and maintain home isolation. This is the only way to break the chain link of Covid-19. Continue to wear masks, maintain social distancing and use sanitizer,” he added.
