Vaccination drive for people aged 18-44 years launched

ITANAGAR, 17 May: Covid-19 vaccination drive for people aged between 18 and 44 years was launched throughout the state on Monday.

Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak launched the vaccination drive in West Siang district. The drive was launched at the CHC in Kamba, with assistance from the NSS unit of the Donyi-Polo Government College.

The MLA commended the contribution of the NSS volunteers and highlighted their role during the pandemic.

He also assured to install six oxygen cylinders at the Kamba CHC to fight against the second wave of Covid-19.

In Changlang, DC Dr Devansh Yadav launched the Covid-19 vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group at the district hospital in Changlang, while UD Minister Kamlung Mosang launched the drive at the CHC in Miao on Monday.

In West Kameng district, DC Karma Leki launched the drive at the general hospital in Bomdila. Altogether 100 beneficiaries received the first dose of the vaccine.

In Lower Subansiri district, Education Minister Taba Tedir launched the drive at the CHC in Yazali, while Agriculture Minister Tage Taki launched the drive in Ziro.

In Pakke-Kessang, MLA BR Wahge launched the Covid-19 vaccination programme for those aged 18 and above at the CMC in Pakke-Kessang. DMO Dr Yaglling Perme informed that the vaccination is available at the CHC in Seijosa and the CHC in Pakke-Kessang.

In East Siang district, MLAs Kaling Moyong and Ninong Ering launched the vaccination drive for those in the age group of 18-44 years at Bakin Pertin General Hospital (BPGH) and the Ruksin CHC, respectively.

Ninety-seven persons received the first dose of vaccination at BPGH, while 92 beneficiaries were administered the first dose of Covishield at the Ruksin CHC on the first day. However, according to official source, 346 beneficiaries, including those who are 45 and above, were vaccinated on Monday.

Vaccination of people in the 18-44 years age group also started in Dibang Valley, Namsai, East Kameng, Tawang and Tirap on Monday.

In Anini in Dibang Valley, 100 persons of the targeted age group were administered the first dose of the vaccine.

A dedicated counter at the NIC was also opened by DC Minga Sherpa, where the people can book their appointment for getting the anti-Covid-19 vaccine through the CoWIN portal.

In Tawang, the vaccine launching session was attended by DC Sang Phuntsok, DMO Dr Wangdi Lama, MS Dr N Namshum and other senior doctors.

Vaccination of people above 45 years will be held in the morning session, while it will be held for people between 18 and 44 years in the afternoon from 18 May, informed vaccine nodal officer Dr Namgey Dakpa.

In Seppa in East Kameng, DC Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla launched the vaccination drive at the government higher secondary school in Bazaar Line.

In Namsai, MLA Zingnu Namchoom launched the second phase of the vaccination drive at the CVC in the district hospital in the presence of the DC and the DRCHO.

Vaccination for those in the 18-44 years age group in the district will be held at the CVC in the district hospital in Namsai and the CHC in Chongkham.

In Tirap, DC Taro Mize launched the vaccination drive in district headquarters Khonsa in the presence of the DMO and the SP.

In Sagalee in Papum Pare district, former chief minister and local MLA Nabam Tuki launched the vaccination programme, while in Doimukh the drive was launched in the presence of WHO consultant Dr Usma and Doimukh CHC MO Dr Lobsang Chuki. (With DIPRO inputs)
