There is utter chaos at the vaccination centres across the Itanagar capital region (ICR) for the last three days. The chaos developed after the government decided to allow spot registration for vaccination for those in the age group of 18 to 44 years. Further complicating the situation, the state government issued conflicting orders and notices regarding vaccination. This caused major confusion and resulted in chaos at the vaccination centres. At all the centres, due to the rush, social distancing norms were not followed.
There is fear that, because of the crowding witnessed in the last three days, the number of Covid-19 cases are expected to increase in the coming days. Adding to it, there was also an argument between ICR Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom and a senior lady doctor at a vaccination centre. The incident was caught on camera and it generated heated debate among the citizens. The whole incident shows a complete lack of coordination between the health department and the administration. At a time when everyone should be joining hands together to fight the pandemic, the lack of coordination among the departments does not augur well. Only a few days are left for the lockdown to end. This might be the last few days for the health department and the ICR administration to bring the Covid-19 situation under control. They better make best use of it instead of pointing fingers at each other. Improve coordination and keep lines of communication open to avoid any sort of misunderstanding.
