KARSINGSA, 16 Jul: Seventeen paddy farmers from Karsingsa and nearby areas benefitted from a ‘training-cum-demonstration programme’ on farm machineries at the paddy demonstration plot of the KVK farm here on 15 July.
The programme was conducted by the Papum Pare KVK, in collaboration with the NERIST branch of the AICRP Ergonomics and Safety in Agriculture (ESA).
“The programme was held due to season-based mandated activities of the kendra under showcasing agriculture technologies programmes for kharif season,” the KVK informed in a release.
While agronomy scientist Tadang Meena urged the participants to make the most of the programme, a team of experts led by NERIST AICRP ESA Centre Technical Associate Kengam Sora taught the farmers about ergonomics, equipment design intended to maximize productivity by minimizing time, operator fatigue, and discomfort.
Farm machinery expert Rideep Phukan demonstrated the way to operate a two-row paddy transplanter, paddy drum seeder, conoweeder and rice nursing.
