MIAO, 19 Nov: The State Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee (SLVMC), headed by its Chairman Anok Wangsa and member Nima Sange, organized an ‘interaction meeting’ here in Changlang district on Thursday.
During the programme, which was attended by Miao ADC Sunny K Singh, DFCSO Kalsang Lhendup, ZPM T Tikhak, Vijaynagar EAC AJ Lungphi, SDFCSOs G Singpho (Changlang) and K Roy (Miao), FPS dealers, consumer activists and carriage contractors, the ADC highlighted the problems being faced by the department.
“Vijaynagar is one of the most remote places of Changlang district where there is no road connectivity, for which more than 50 percent of rice meant for Vijaynagar is damaged due to non-lifting of rice to Vijaynagar, which has been stocking for last many years at Miao,” he said.
Wangsa spoke about the National Food Security Act, 2013, and urged the Changlang district administration and food & civil supplies department to implement the targeted public distribution system (TPDS) in a transparent manner.
He assured to take up with the state government the grievances placed by the FPS dealers and carriage contractors regarding pending bills and other issues.
The committee was apprised of the status of the implementation of the PDS in the district.
