Mundayoor selected for Dakshina-Ravunni Menon Award

ITANAGAR, 20 Jan: Noted educational activist Sathyanarayanan Mundayoor has been selected for the prestigious Dakshina-Ravunni Menon Award-2021, instituted by Chennai-based cultural organization Dakshina in memory of its founder Ravunni Menon.

The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have rendered selfless service to the community. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,001, a citation and a sculpture.

Mundayoor, fondly known as ‘Uncle Moosa’ in Arunachal, has dedicated his entire life promoting educational standards in Arunachal. He is one of the pioneers of the Lohit Youth Library Movement, which has promoted several youth libraries in eastern Arunachal to promote education and foster a culture of reading among the youth.

In recognition of his yeoman services, the nation honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2020.

Mundayoor informed that the award amount would be utilized for reading promotion activities in Arunachal. (DIPR)
