Joint efforts needed to keep ICR clean

Garbage management is emerging as the most challenging job for the Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC). In various cleanliness surveys, the Itanagar Capital Region often finds itself on the lower side. Recently, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar flagged off 28 sanitation vehicles of the IMC. It is expected that these vehicles will come in handy in the efforts to keep the ICR clean. However, just procuring new vehicles will not solve the whole problem.

The garbage pickup vehicles will have to be properly used. Right now, one of the main complaints is that these vehicles do not come to the colonies to pick up garbage daily. Also, the citizens have alleged that they do not come to colonies on time. The IMC will have to look into these complaints and try to resolve them. Also, the dumping of garbage randomly near highway and colony roads by the public should be stopped. The people of the ICR need to play their part in keeping the city clean. The IMC alone will not be able to keep the ICR clean. The citizens will have to play their part too and behave responsibly.
