ROING, 13 Mar: A ‘skill mela-cum-skill development sensitisation awareness rally’ was conducted at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) here in Lower Dibang Valley by the skill development & entrepreneurship department, in collaboration with the district administration.
Flagging off the rally, Dibang Multipurpose Project Executive Director Janesh Sahni highlighted the ‘Skill India’ programme. “Skills make the youth self-reliant and getting a job becomes secondary if the youth acquires quality skills,” he said, and encouraged unemployed youths to avail the opportunity of the skill mela.
Deputy Commissioner Soumya Saurabh emphasised that the youths should abstain from drug addiction and devote their time to acquiring skills. She also advised all the youths present to aim for bigger goals.
Roing ZPM Komji Linggi and ITI Principal Subash Pertin also spoke.
Representatives from the Zentek Educational and Welfare Society, Value Fabtex and Future Vision participated in the skill mela as training providers.
Altogether 186 unemployed youths participated in the mela. Out of them, 154 registered for different vocational training courses with the training providers.
The programme was also attended by NHPC Roing DGM RP Maurya, DPO Marto Dirchi, the ZPMs of Bukkong, Bolung and Paglam, and other officials. (DIPRO)
