NAMSAI, 29 Mar: Sixty farmers and the staff of the Namsai Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) participated in a ‘Northeastern Hill (NEH) development programme’, organised by the KVK, in collaboration with the Kolkata (WB)-based eastern region ICAR-IVRI, here on Tuesday to uplift the socioeconomic condition of the district’s farmers.
Addressing the participants, KVK Head (in-charge) Dr Debasis Sasmal emphasised the need for “uplifting the farmers under the Tribal Sub-Plan.”
ICAR-IVRI principal scientist Dr Subhasis Bandyopadhyay spoke about “increasing the socioeconomic condition of the farmers of the Northeast region through integrated farming.”
ICAR-IVRI senior scientists Drs Samiran Bandyopadhyay and Sanchay K Biswas discussed the scientific farming of pigs, feeding practices, disease management, etc.
Later, 120 piglets and 6 tonnes of animal feeds were distributed among the farmers.
