PASIGHAT, 4 Apr: The 4th Rashtriya Poshan Pakhwada (National Nutritional Fortnight), organised by the East Siang women & child development (WCD) department’s divisional ICDS cell, concluded here on Monday.
Reviewing the activities in his office here, East Siang DC Tayi Taggu stressed on holistic nutrition for mothers and children, as envisaged under the Centre’s flagship Poshan Abhiyan.
“As mothers and children are important section of society, implementation of such schemes needs to be given special priority to combat malnutrition,” the DC said, and stressed on the need to identify severe acute malnutrition, moderate acute malnutrition and healthy children.
Activities such as growth monitoring and use of growth monitoring device were also reviewed during the meeting.
ICDS DD Machi Gao informed that various activities were carried out during the Poshan Pakhawada, in convergence with the line departments, for holistic nourishment of children in the age group of 0-6 years.
Testing for and treating anaemia, along with awareness generation on local and affordable nutritious food items, recipe contests, etc, were also conducted.
The respective CDPOs made presentations on the financial and physical achievements in all four ICDS projects – Ruksin, Pasighat, Mebo and Ramle Banggo – under the divisional ICDS unit.
The meeting was attended by CDPOs, supervisors, SAs, gram sevikas, EOs and officials of the WCD and line departments. (DIPRO)
