LONGDING, 13 Apr: Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Rinchen Dorjee cautioned RTI activists to not misuse the Act as a tool to harass officials.
He said that the Act, if used in true spirit with a sense of responsibility, will help bring transparency and accountability in the process of governance.
“The information seekers should be very specific while seeking information,” Dorjee, said interacting with the PIO, APIO, officers and RTI activists here on Wednesday.
He also highlighted the important provisions of the RTI Act in details.
EAC Dakli Gara expressed concerns over information seekers bypassing the first appellate authority, where many cases may be solved amicably, thereby creating unnecessary burden on the commission as well as the officials.
Some RTI activists spoke about the need to provide comprehensive training to all the officials concerned and public for effective implementation of the act.
The meeting was attended by Longding deputy commissioner Bani Lego, Kanubari ADC Techu Aran, all HoDs, PRI members and RTI activists. (DIPRO)
