BOLENG, 6 Jun: The Siang district administration organised a plantation drive at the office of the district election officer here on the occasion of the World Environment Day.
Plantation drives were also organised in Pangin, Rumgong, Kaying, Payum, and Jomlo Mobuk. More than 100 saplings were planted.
Our correspondent adds: In Miao in Changlang district, a series of plantation activities was organised by several organisations to mark the day.
The 171 Bn CRPF, led by Assistant Commander Trilochan Behera, planted around 200 saplings along the Miao-Jagun road.
In Kharsang, members of the Clean & Green Kharsang Group planted around 400 saplings of fruit trees, ornamental trees and medicinal trees along the Miao-Namchick road.
In Mpen, a three-day ‘Nature education camp’ was organised by the Dapha Valley Tours & Travels, along with SEED, in collaboration with the Namdapha National Park (Project Tiger).
The day was also celebrated in the 10th Mile area of the Namdapha National Park & Tiger Reserve with the theme ‘Save nature, save biodiversity’. (With DIPRO input)
