Absenteeism should not be tolerated

Recently, the Shi-Yomi district unit of the All Arunachal Pradesh Panchayat Raj Parishad (AAPPRP) lodged a complaint with the deputy commissioner against all the heads of departments (HoD) of the district over their absenteeism. Such complaints of officials remaining absent from their places of posting keep coming from various parts of the state. In particular, the districts located in the interior regions are the worst sufferers. Most of the time officials prefer to work from the district headquarters and do not go to their places of posting.
In the case of Shi-Yomi district, it seems that most of the officials still prefer to work from Aalo, the nearest town and headquarters of West Siang district. At the time of entering service, the government officials agree to be posted anywhere in the state. But after joining they start seeking transfer to the Itanagar Capital Regio and district headquarters. As they remain absent from the place of posting the people suffer a lot. Just for minor official works they have to wait till the officials return. Many of the people living in interior parts of the state are very poor and have no money to travel to district headquarters to meet the officials. The state government should take strict action against the officials who remain absent from the places of posting. Absenteeism should not be tolerated at any cost.
