BASAR, 14 Nov: Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak on Sunday inaugurated a state-of-art badminton court at the multipurpose cultural hall here in Leparada district, in the presence of MLA Gokar Basar, Leparada DC Mamata Riba, 2nd APP Bn Commandant Tumme Amo, and others.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by a friendly match between the Leparada District Badminton Association and Lt Tumnya Karbak Badminton Club, Kamba.
Speaking on the occasion, Karbak urged the youths to “take up sports as a way of healthy and fit life.” He said that “such friendly matches should be continued in the days to come,” and that participants from other districts should also be made part of it.
Basar opined that friendly sports matches between neighbouring districts would “strengthen the ties and usher in rapid development of the erstwhile undivided Siang district through cooperation and collaboration on shared interests.”
The MLA urged young badminton players to make the best of the state-of-art-infrastructure, and stated that “similar projects for other sports are also in the pipeline.”
Kamba ADC Rujjum Raksap, DPDO Murnya Kakki, the president and secretary-general of the Leparada District Badminton Association, HoDs, shuttlers, and others attended the function.
Later, in the evening, an ‘anti-drugs musical night’ themed ‘Say no to drugs, say yes to music’ was organised, during which a ‘Leparada song video’ was launched, in acknowledgement of the 19 illustrious luminaries of the district who made outstanding contributions towards the development of the district.
Among others, the event was attended by Karbak, Basar, the DC, and ZPC Nyabi Jini Dirchi. (DIPRO)
