AR asks business owners not to support militant groups

KHONSA, 10 Feb: The Assam Rifles’ Khonsa Battalion Commandant, Col Aman Ahluwalia, has asked the business owners of the district not to support militant groups or their illegal activities, especially by giving into their extortion demands.

Col Ahluwalia was addressing a ‘security coordination meeting’ with shopkeepers, business owners, taxi owners and local residents, in the presence of police officials here in Tirap district on Friday.

Commending the business owners for their wholesome support to the security forces and government officials,

the commandant highlighted “the importance of a successful and progressive community in providing employment opportunities to locals to wean them away from the vices plaguing the society.”

The commandant also apprised the gathering of the general situation in Tirap district.

The concerns of the business community with regard to unlawful activities of insurgents, including extortion, kidnapping, recruitment of insurgents and other nefarious activities were addressed during the meeting.

The attendees were also made to understand the apparatus in place to provide them holistic security by the security forces.

All the attendees expressed their unity against insurgency, extortion and abduction, and reiterated their allegiance to security forces in the district. (DIPRO)
