MIGLUNG, 12 Oct: NABARD-sponsored 15-day micro enterprise development programmes (MEDP) on pickle-making, cake-baking and soap-making concluded at Miglung village in East Siang district on Thursday.
The programmes were implemented by NGO Dite Mopang Welfare Society (DMWS).
“The MEDPs were sanctioned with the aim of providing livelihood and income generation opportunities to the trainees, mostly members of SHGs, by way of placement or setting up their own units,” the NABARD informed in a release.
Addressing the valedictory function, which was attended by, among others, the Miglung GPC, and the secretary and the chairman of the DMWS, NABARD District Development Manager Nitya Mili advised the DMWS to “follow up with the trainees, so that the objectives of the training – self-employment and income generation – are met.”
He highlighted some of the schemes of the NABARD, such as rural marts, rural haats, sponsoring artisans/SHG members for exhibitions and melas, etc.
The DMWS chairman also spoke.
Certificates were later distributed to the trainees.
