MARO, 24 Nov: The Upper Subansiri Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) here celebrated its foundation day on Friday by imparting training to farmers on ‘Scientific technologies of potato and banana cultivation under crop diversification’.
While soil science expert Nyape Bam apprised the farmers of scientific technologies for potato and banana cultivation, plant pathology scientist Nani Yampi apprised them of crop diversification.
Additionally, the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas was celebrated to commemorate the contributions of the tribal freedom fighters and to make the participants aware of the sacrifices of their forefathers during the British invasion and the Sino-India war of 1962.
Agriculture extension specialist Dr Habung Ali delivered a lecture on the struggles and bravery of tribal freedom fighters Birsa Munda, Matmur Jamoh, Moje Riba and Shere Thapa. In addition to this, the KVK marked the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra by distributing leaflets, bulletins, seedlings, farming tools and power generated winnowers among the farmers under the NEH programme.
The programme was attended also by fishery programme assistant Dipjyoti Bora, computer programme assistant Gokia Kokha, and farm manager Tajem Teli, the KVK said.
