Keep politics away from arts, sports

The Supreme Court on Tuesday very rightly rejected a plea to ban Pakistani artists from working in India and advised the petitioner against being narrow-minded on the issue. Over the last few years, people are increasingly mixing politics with arts and sports. This is really unfair. Geopolitics should be separated from arts and sports. In fact, sports, arts and literature can help to ease the tension between nations. The hyper nationalists in India always call for banning Pakistani players and artists in India.

Such bans will in no way help the two nations. If the people of the two countries completely stop meeting, then tension will only increase. It is only through meeting ordinary people that relations can be better. The SC deserves appreciation for coming down hard on the petitioner. The apex court has correctly advised that people should not be so narrow-minded. Hope this sends out a strong message to others. Apart from wasting precious time of the Supreme Court, such kind of petition portrays a wrong picture of India. People should stop behaving so low. There are better things to do in life than indulging in these kinds of activities.
