Editor,
I’m writing to draw the attention of the land management directorate towards the unfair transfer and posting of staff members of the land management department. It’s troubling to see that transfers are being made without following the established guidelines, creating a clear imbalance.
Some employees are frequently moved to various places of posting, while others, especially those in the headquarters in Pasighat and Yupia, stay in the same place for many years, even after being promoted. This inconsistency raises serious questions about fairness and transparency.
Moreover, when they are issued transfer or posting order by the authority, influential MLAs often step in, using their power to stop the transfers through note sheets, allowing the favoured staff members to remain in the same place of posting. Meanwhile, those without political backing are the sufferers, as their legitimate transfer requests are ignored by the authorities.
Recently, the transfer orders for some headquarters staff members were put on hold or cancelled, and some which are under process are also being stopped due to the intervention of the MLA concerned, highlighting this unfair practice.
This situation demoralises staffers and disrupts the department’s efficiency. I urge the authorities to address this issue promptly and reshuffle the staffers immediately, ensuring that transfers and postings are done fairly, strictly following the guidelines, and free from undue influence or favouritism.
