Progs organised in run-up to I-Day

ITANAGAR, 12 Aug: Patriotic programmes, including tirangayatras, were organised in various districts of the state on Monday, in the run-up to the Independence Day celebration.

The Indian Army, in collaboration with the East Kameng district administration, organised a ‘rastram sarvopari’ programme, featuring a vibrant array of cultural performances, including traditional local dances, ghatka martial art, and bhangra dance performed by Indian Army personnel.

The event was attended by MLAs Kumar Waii and Ealing Tallang, Brig Tanuj Pandey, and East Kameng DC Sachin Rana, among others.

Additionally, a Seva Aapke Dwar camp was conducted, providing essential services and assistance to numerous beneficiaries.

A Har Ghar Tiranga bike rally was also organised. The rally, flagged off by the DC, witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 200 individuals.

In Tawang district, Tawang Brigade Commander Brig VS Rajput and Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang jointly flagged off a tiranga yatra – a bicycle rally- from the DC’s office premises on Monday morning.

Brig Rajput said that “the youths are the future of our country and it is the fundamental responsibility of every citizen to contribute to the cause of nation-building.”

“The freedom which we got today is the result of sacrifices made by our brave freedom fighters, and we have to safeguard this independence,” he added.

Darang administered the Har Ghar Tiranga pledge to the participants, who included members of the Monduro Cycling Association and ITBP jawans.

The rally covered the giant Buddha statue, the Tawang War Memorial, the Gyalwa Tsangyang Gyatso High Altitude Stadium, the New Market, and the Tawang monastery, before culminating at the starting point.

In Aalo (W/Siang), Sports Minister Kento Jini attended a number of Har Ghar Tiranga programmes, and distributed the national flag to senior citizens, the public and HoDs.

The minister also flagged off a ‘tiranga bike rally’and attended a cleanliness drive at Nehru Memorial School in Aalo.

Later, in a programme at the circuit house, Jini administered the tiranga pledge and the Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge to all the officials of the district, in the presence of DC Hage Mamu. (DIPROs)
