KOLORIANG, 29 Aug: An integrated learning centre was introduced at the government secondary school Nikja here in Kurung Kumey district on Wednesday.
The centre has been launched under the educational initiative, ‘Digi Kaksha,’ to enhance the quality of education.
The project was inaugurated by Koloriang MLA Pani Taram.
The MLA stated that “the project is a pioneering effort in the border district of Kurung Kumey and in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, providing a comprehensive digital learning platform for the holistic development of students.”
He emphasised the importance of ensuring that remote border districts like Kurung Kumey have access to the latest learning methods, comparable to those in the cities.
DC Vishakha Yadav, who spearheaded the project, mentioned that the smart class is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and the latest teaching tools, following the BALA (Building as a Learning Aid)model.
She said that the project aims to encourage teachers to adopt advanced activity-based teaching methods, and to create a technologically modern environment for students.
“The curriculum and content have been specifically designed to create an engaging and enjoyable learning atmosphere, moving away from traditional rote learning,” she added.
Yadav informed that this is a pilot project, designed to establish a model learning institution, with plans to replicate similar projects in other areas shortly. She called on administrative officers and the school development monitoring committee to collectively take responsibility for maintaining such projects.
The initiative was developed in response to challenges such as the lack of foundational literacy and numeracy skills, high dropout rates, teacher absenteeism, difficult terrain and infrastructure deficits and the lack of student motivation. These had led to poor educational outcomes, including a low CBSE pass percentage of 22.4% for the 2023-2024 session in the district. (DIPRO)
