ITANAGAR, 23 Sep: A five-day free ‘Muay Thai training-cum-self defence camp’ was launched at Malo Tarin Government Higher Secondary School here on Monday by the Muay Thai Association Arunachal Pradesh (MAAP), affiliated to the Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA).
The event was inaugurated by ICR DC Talo Potom.
Lauding the initiative, the DC said, “This camp is a great step towards empowering our youths with essential self-defence skills. It will not only boost their confidence but also promote discipline and physical fitness.”
Also present on the occasion was Sports Authority of Arunachal (SAA) Director Gumnya Karbak, who emphasised the importance of sports in youth development. “Such initiatives provide a platform for young people to explore and develop their potential in martial arts. I hope this camp inspires many to pursue sports as a serious discipline,” he said.
MAAP president Momi Tayeng in her address said, “Our goal is to make martial arts accessible to everyone in Arunachal. This camp is just the beginning, and we hope to organise more such events in the future.”
MAAP secretary Moi Riba and officials, including Pani Manju Joram, were also present on the occasion.
The camp will provide the participants with an opportunity to learn the basics of Muay Thai and self-defence techniques under the guidance of experienced trainers. The initiative is expected to encourage the youthsto take up martial arts for fitness, discipline, and self-protection.
