Editor,
As a woman, I feel scared when I read about serial molestation cases, and it also gives me a lot to think about. A molester is a habitual offender who has violated many women, most of whom are minors, but only one has the courage to report the case to the police. What does this mean?
From the perspective of the family, the victim did not tell her family that she was violated, which shows that the parents do not care enough for their children and do not communicate with them frequently, resulting in the children having to endure the pain silently.
From the perspective of the school, most schools lack sex education, safety education, moral education, etc. When minors encounter such situations, they do not know how to deal with them and can only choose to remain silent. This incident is enough to prove the urgency and importance of popularising relevant education.
From the perspective of society, there are too many prejudices and stereotypes against women. Being molested is not the fault of women and minors. They are the victims. They need more encouragement, tolerance and justice, not prejudice. At the same time, people should not remain silent when they find similar incidents. Please lend a helping hand to help the victimised women.
From the perspective of the government, the occurrence of serial molestation incidents shows that public security management is not enough and the punishment is not harsh enough. It is recommended to increase efforts to investigate and crack down on such cases, recruit more female police officers, and improve corresponding psychological counseling institutions.
We women need to be protected, not only in words, but also in actions.
