Talk on civil service as a career option held at RGU

RONO HILLS, 12 Nov: Rajiv Gandhi University’s (RGU) political science department, in collaboration with the alumni association of its political science department, organized a talk on the topic ‘Civil service as a career option’ at the mini-auditorium of the university here on Tuesday.

RGU Registrar Dr NT Rikam advised the students to focus on their goals. Patience and dedication are keys to success, he said, and advised the aspirants to take full advantage of the opportunity.

Prof Padung said that “civil service is a prestigious career path dedicated to serving the society, state and nation.”

“Sincerity, not just seriousness, is vital for success in the civil services,” Prof Padung said.

Political Science HoD Prof Tabang Mibang highlighted the department’s tradition of producing officers, administrators, academicians, entrepreneurs and policymakers, who are posted in different parts of the state and the nation.

Alumni association president Dr David Gao while highlighting the importance of giving back to the alma mater said that “the concept of giving back to the alma mater is still new in Arunachal Pradesh.” He appealed to the alumni to be more proactive in giving back to the institute.

Gite Ripa CO Atu Yekar Kamda, who is an alumna of RGU, said that her three “mantras” for success are “clarity and focus, determination and sincerity, and a balance of smart and hard work.”

Kamda advised the aspirants to stay motivated and persistent, saying, “Think of each attempt as your last; quality of study matters more than quantity.”

Pakke-Kessang SP Tashi Darang, an alumnus, encouraged the students to retain knowledge, write clearly, and master the correct terminologies, stating “You cannot bluff in the civil service examination.”

He urged aspirants to think outside the box and study diligently. The SP further advised the students to remain motivated and resilient even after clearing the examination.

Assistant Professors Dr Nuki Gammeng and Dr Man Norbu also spoke.
