Clarification on report

Editor,

I am writing to express grave concern over the inaccuracies published in the news headlined ‘Encroachment on official post…’, etc, that was published in your daily on 6 November.

The report includes the following statement about me:

“Interestingly, one Nangram Bai, serving as an upper division clerk (UDC) in the panchayat department in Kurung Kumey district, was serving as the in-charge DLRSO and was not willing to relinquish his charge to the appointed officers, Pudom Taku and Bhonagiri Vamshi Krishna.”

I categorically deny this allegation, which is both baseless and untrue. At no point have I resisted relinquishing any charge, nor have I encroached upon any official position. The claims made in the report are misleading and have caused significant damage to my reputation.

To clarify, an order (No KKD/ESTT-72/2023, dated 30th October, 2024) issued by Deputy Commissioner (i/c) Ocean Gao on the recommendation of the 21st Koloriang (ST) AC MLA, during the absence of the regular deputy commissioner, directed me to hand over the charge of DLRSO to APEDA Deputy Director Bengia Tadap.

The order also specified that it would be nullified once a regular DLRSO was posted.

Subsequently, as per order No LMD-11012/13/2021/E-35787, dated 21 November, 2024, Bhonagiri Vamshi Krishna was posted as DLRSO, Kurung Kumey from the directorate of land management. On 22 November, 2024, following his release from the directorate of land management, I personally accompanied him in my vehicle to Koloriang to join his duty. However, due to the deputy commissioner’s absence in Koloriang, as she was at an official meeting in Nyapin, Krishna could not assume charge that day.

We stayed in Koloriang from 23 to 24 November, since it was Saturday and Sunday. During these two days I was informed that Krishna received threat calls to not join as DLRSO, Kurung Kumey. With the security assistance of the district administration, we met with the deputy commissioner on 25 November,2024, and he officially assumed his duty.

Upon assuming his duty, he requested the DC forpreparatory leave, as he had not brought his personal belongings for his stay in Koloriang. However, the DC personally urged him to remain at station and take up his responsibilities, citing numerous pending tasks in the land department. Despite this, upon his persistent request, the DC granted him preparatory leave.

Consequently, we returned to Itanagar on the same day.

Later, I was shocked to see Krishna’s resignation letter circulating on social media. Despite my efforts to contact him and understand the reasons behind his decision, he did not respond.

This false report has caused me immense mental distress, tarnished my reputation, and subjected me to undue criticism. These events have deeply impacted both my personal and professional life. I respectfully request your esteemed publication to investigate thismatter thoroughly and publish a public correction at the earliest. As a trusted newspaper, The Arunachal Times is relied upon for accuracy and fairness, and I am confident you will take the necessary steps to address this matter appropriately.

Nangram Bhai,

Former DLRSO (i/c),
