The recent report prepared by the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) 2024 has brought a ray of hope to the education sector in the state. According to the 14th nationwide field-based survey conducted by ASER, school facilities in Arunachal Pradesh have shown remarkable improvement. However, the report also claims that the state still lags behind the rest of India in terms of usable school facilities. In recent years, the government of Arunachal Pradesh has focused on the education and health sectors. Despite all the challenges, it seems that positive changes are happening.
The ASER report, showing improvements in school facilities, will boost the morale of the education department. Previously, poor facilities, especially in government schools, were cited as one of the main reasons for low enrollment and poor academic performance. While the improvement in facilities is welcomed, it should be sustained over a longer period. Education Minister P.D Sona recently visited various districts and conducted meetings to understand the ground realities. Hopefully, this will further help improve the education sector in the coming days.
