Vocational learning tour’ underway

PASIGHAT, 10 Feb: Thirty trainees, aged 21-50 years, from Sigar, Mebo, Ralling, Motum and Pasighat in East Siang district, have been taken on a ‘vocational learning tour’ to Guwahati, Bolpur and Kolkata (Assam and West Bengal) by the Spear Corps of the Indian Army, under its Operation Sadbhavna.

During the tour, which was flagged off on Sunday, the Spear Corps Empowering Veterans and Aspirants (SEVA) will provide the trainees with firsthand experience at cane, bamboo, and handcraft industries of Guwahati, Bolpur, and Kolkata, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship.

This initiative aims to provide sustainable livelihoods for skilled persons from Arunachal Pradesh, promote craftsmanship and eco-friendly products, and connect people across diverse regions with the rest of the country.

The Spear Corps has established SEVA at the Veterans’ Suvidha Kendra here to address veterans’ grievances, provide them with opportunities for a second career, and empower the youths of Arunachal through skill development. The SEVA also offers diploma courses in the hospitality and IT sectors. (DIPRO)
