Limit late-night construction

Editor,

I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of concern that has been causing significant disturbance to the residents in the vicinity of the under-construction buildings near Donyi Polo Tyre Shop in E Sector, Itanagar. The hammering and construction work, which often continues late into the night, is irritating, annoying, and disruptive, particularly during these exam times for students.

The hammering noise generated by these construction activities at certain intervals, continuing past 9 pm and sometimes as late as 10 pm, is extremely disturbing for job aspirants, schoolchildren, and others who rely on peaceful evenings to study, revise, or rest. With exams on the horizon, this is an especially sensitive period for those preparing for important tests.

It is only reasonable to expect that construction activities should be carried out within reasonable hours, and I urge the building owner to exercise some common sense. It is important that they instruct their workers to restrict the hammering and noise to daytime hours, which would ensure that the residents and students are not adversely affected by these disturbances. Work should be paused at least by 7 or 8 pm to give people the necessary peace and quiet they deserve, especially during such crucial times.

Please note that Itanagar is a residential area, not a factory or industry, where you can carry hammering activities late into the night.

I hope that the authorities concerned and the building owner will take immediate steps to address this issue and respect the welfare of those in the neighbourhood.
