Fighting corruption the smart way

Editor,

Corruption remains a significant challenge in Arunachal Pradesh, hampering development and eroding public trust in governance. While the state government has taken measures to curb corruption, the absence of an efficient and transparent complaint mechanism limits citizens’ ability to report unethical practices.

To address this issue, the government should establish an online anti-corruption reporting portal, ensuring accessibility, anonymity, and swift action against corrupt activities. Such a platform would empower citizens to report corruption in government offices, procurement processes, and public service delivery without fear of retaliation.

The portal should include:

# User-friendly interface for easy complaint submission.

# Anonymity and whistle- blower protection to safeguard complainants.

# Real-time tracking of complaints with unique reference numbers.

# Integration with law enforcement agencies for prompt investigation.

# Awareness campaigns to educate people on using the platform.

Successful implementation of similar initiatives in states like Karnataka and Maharashtra has shown that digital platforms enhance accountability and transparency. By adopting this model, Arunachal can significantly improve governance and ensure corruption-free administration.

We urge the state government to prioritise this initiative, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and public service integrity. Establishing an online anti-corruption reporting portal will foster trust, encourage citizens’ participation, and pave the way for a cleaner, more accountable administration.
