Need to overhaul APP football team

Editor,

I am writing to express my concern over the recent performance of the Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) football team in the Tadar Tang Tournament qualifying round which was held at Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district. Unfortunately, the team failed to secure even a single win in the entire tournament, highlighting the urgent need for changes in the squad.

As an observer of the game, I have noticed many talented players from the recent batch of police recruits who could significantly improve the team’s performance. However, they have not been given an opportunity to showcase their skills. Instead, the team continues to rely on old players who should now focus on their primary duty as police personnel.

It is time for the authorities to revamp the team by selecting fresh, skilled players who can bring energy, enthusiasm, and better results in future tournaments. Sports selection should be based on merit rather than tenure, ensuring that only the best represent the force. This change will not only enhance the team’s performance but also inspire other young and capable players to come forward.

I urge the authorities concerned to take this matter seriously and initiate a fair and transparent selection process for the police football team. A strong team will not only bring pride to the department but also boost the morale of sports enthusiasts across the state.
