NAHARLAGUN, 30 Apr: Food & Civil Supply Minister Gabriel D Wangsu emphasized the importance of leveraging social media platforms for departmental communication and urged for technical interventions to improve the functioning of the department.
On Wednesday, Wangsu chaired an extensive review meeting of the department of food & civil supplies at the directorate headquarters in Naharlagun.
The meeting focused on the overview, status, data analytics, and challenges faced by the department across the state.
Senior officers from all districts across the state attended the day-long session, which began with a technical discussion on SMART PDS (Public Distribution System) implementation.
he technical session included presentations by consultants and district food & civil supplies officers (DFCSOs), with particular emphasis on issues and challenges related to eKYC implementation and SMART PDS rollout.
During the meeting, officers from each district gave comprehensive presentations highlighting district-specific challenges and achievements.
Wangsu engaged directly with all DFCSOs, listening attentively to their concerns regarding field operations in their respective jurisdictions.
Encouraging innovative thinking, the minister urged the officers to ‘Think out of the box’ while suggesting various solutions to tackle ongoing issues. He specifically addressed concerns regarding staff shortages, departmental promotion committees, career progression of department personnel and proper documentation of vehicle procurements.
He assured the officers that more such interactive sessions would be organized in the coming days.
The minister, who also holds portfolios for Agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry & veterinary, fisheries, legal metrology & consumer affairs departments, commended the officers for their efforts and encouraged them to maintain their dedication to public service.
MLA and advisor to the F&CS minister Techi Kaso also attended the state-level meeting and addressed the gathering.
