ITANAGAR, 31 Jul: The Niti Vihar police have recovered a stolen dumper truck and arrested two persons in the case.

The accused have been identified as Amjad Ali (27), a resident of Silonibari village in Lakhimpur, Assam, and Md Esamuddin (33), a resident of Dejoo villagein Lakhimpur district of Assam.

On 22 July, an FIR was received by the police station from one Nangram Kali and Tophik Khan, stating that a dumper truck (AR-01L-2528), which had been parked near the CRPF camp in Senki Park, had gone missing. Despite personal efforts to trace the vehicle, they were unsuccessful.

The theft reportedly occurred sometime between 10 June and 10 July.

Based on the complaint, a case under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered an endorsed to SI Tejab Tadar for investigation.

A special police team, comprising Niti Vihar PS OC Inspector Takhe Tasso, SI Tejab Tadar, ASI D Gupta, and Constables M Kojing and J Romin, under the supervision of Itanagar SDPO Kengo Dirchi, launched an investigation. The team identified a group of 5-6 suspects who had prior knowledge of the vehicle’s location and its GPS installation. During the course of interrogation, one of the former employees of the complainant was detained from Dejoo area in Lakhimpur district, Assam.

Subsequent investigation led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle from Damin area in Kurung Kumey  district, the police said.
