YUPIA, 1 Aug: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav has urged the Highway Divisionauthorities to ensure that government-mandated road safety tips and guidelines are prominently displayed at key locations before the commencement of the Road Safety Awareness Week.
Chairing a District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting here on Friday to finalize plans for the upcoming road safety awareness programmes, scheduled for the last week of August, the DC emphasized that the DRSC’s plans should focus on practical, low-cost, yet impactful interventions. She urged the representatives from automobile firms present to actively participate and contribute towards the success of the road safety programmes.
EAC (Transport) Dr Dana Unna presented a detailed briefing on the preparation for the Road Safety Week, highlighting various activities aimed at youths and the public.
The committee also reviewed the district’s current status regarding DRSC performance, and received updates on the integrated road accident database(iRAD).
The DC instructed the DRSC member secretary to ensure that all required data for iRAD are updated in a timely manner in close coordination with the Police Department.
District Transport Officer (Motor Vehicles) Yumlam Yajum Lombi presented a brief on the policies related to compensation for hit-and-run victims, and elaborated the Rah-Veer scheme, formerly known as the Good Samaritan Scheme.
Representatives from Force Motors, Maruti Nexa, Mahindra Iconic, KIA showroom, and other DRSC members attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
