ITANAGAR, 21 Aug: Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) secretary-general Gonya Riba, representing the Arunachal Pradesh government, participated in the All-India State Government Employees’ Federation (AISGEF) meeting held in Faridabad, Haryana, from 16 -18 August.
On the first day, the presidents and general secretaries of all state federations, including those from the Northeastern region, took part in the AISGEF secretariat meeting.
On the second day, the national executive committee meeting was attended by nominated state executives.
Parallelly, the national women’s sub-committee meeting was attended by state women executives, who deliberated on issues concerning women employees across India.
During the sessions, important agendas and demands of the employees were highlighted. The major points discussed included: abolition of the PFRDA Act and restoration of the old pension scheme; regularisation of all contractual, ad hoc, outsourced and daily wage employees; filling up of all vacant posts in government departments and public sector undertakings; stopping privatisation, corporatization, and downsizing of government departments; setting up of the 8th Central Pay Commission and ensuring periodic wage revision; continuous payment of dearness allowance to employees and pensioners; assurance of comprehensive healthcare facilities and introduction of a universal health insurance scheme; withdrawal of the National Education Policy; protection of the constitutional rights of employees under Articles 310 and 311; upholding secularism and social harmony as enshrined in the Constitution; and redefinition of Centre-state financial relations to safeguard cooperative federalism.
“The participation of the Northeast state federations was marked by solidarity and commitment towards strengthening the collective movement of government employees nationwide,” the CoSAAP informed in a release.
