SHERGAON, 18 Sep: Award-winning model village Shergaon will host the ‘Shergaon Folk Quest’ festival on 18 and 19 October, bringing together music, culture, and outdoor experiences in one of Northeast India’s most scenic destinations.
The festival, powered by Taksar Lu Farms in association with OK North East, will feature performances by leading artists, including Arghadeep Barua, Tripti Martin, Nima Dorjee, and folk-fusion band FolkAGeet led by Jim Ankan Deka. Sherdukpen folk singer Phurpa Dorjee Mijiji, Bangalore-based singer Shristi Bhagawati, and local folk dance troupes will also take the stage.
Singer and vlogger Lenzing Doming and digital creator Nayysha Phukan will join as festival emissaries.
The music curation will be handled by Music Malt, while Everything Outdoor Northeast will manage camping arrangements. Guests can also book homestays and nearby resorts through the organizers.
Beyond music, the two-day programme will offer immersive cultural and outdoor activities. Visitors can join healing forest walks, treks to hidden waterfalls, birding tours, monastery visits, and village heritage walks.
Riverside picnics, folk dance workshops, and a trip to Mandala Top will add to the experience. Storytelling sessions will highlight the history and traditions of the Sherdukpen community.
The organizers said that Shergaon Folk Quest will be a no-plastic, low-noise festival, with focus on sustainability and cultural exchange.
